some ppl say this works with the d3100 and others say it does not, does anyone know for sure?

Yes it will work, turn on remote feature by pushing the button with the remote / 3 squares on the camera. Button should be around the LCD.

Is it compatible with the Coolpix l120?

Nikon website has camera compatibility for remote. If camera has IR than it will more than likely work.

Looking for a remote that will control video start/stop.

Will control video, must change setting in menu. Tested on 3200 and 5200. Name brand and off brand work fine. Nikon makes only one wireless remote.

When will the ML-L3 wireless remote be back in stock? The SKU # is 7191077. This is advertised at a sale price, will this be honored by putting it on my Best Buy wish list? it seems there should be a way to get a raincheck for this.

Yes, it will work all day long, I use it on a 3200 and 5200.
