Chrome Cast was easy to set up via the mobile app (though the desktop plug in took a little more effort). It's not a stand alone video player, and the app or phone needs to support it, but it's a good, cheap way to add the ability to stream webpages from a chrome browser, or play video or music front supported app.
I would recommend this to a friend!

chromecast into smart dvd player

I have an older TV and the hdmi port Is broken. Can the chromecast be plugged into my smart dvd player?
Short answer; No. It needs to plug into an HDMI port. If your TV does not have one than it won't be able to use it (at least not without a complicated adapter setup)
