What's great about it: Does the job, no external power required, USB 2 or 3 compatible, works with Mac
The box only says USB 3.0, I had to open the package in-store to find out it was backward compatible with USB 2.0.
Being Best Buy's in-house brand, this was the cheapest option I could find to do a transfer for my hard drive upgrade. Not necessarily worth it for a 1-time use, but now I have it for next time. It worked fine, I let the copy run overnight, no overheating problems or anything.
Some other upgrade kits come with software too, but the Mac has built-in Disk Utility that is really simple to use, so no reason to purchase extra software.
If you are in the area (Virginia Beach), you can borrow mine to do your upgrade, save some cash.
The new drive that I used it with and my system are listed in the related products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Much larger drive!
What's not so great: I don't really notice any performance increase.
Replaced my 2009 Macbook Pro's internal drive with this one. I was expecting some boot time speedup, but I haven't really noticed any. Otherwise, having 840 more GB to use is great, the old drive was filling up and I needed to dump some pictures and videos on it still. I haven't really noticed the machine being any faster, which is a bit of a downer since you pay extra to have the SSD cache on this thing. But the original drive was also a 5400 rpm drive like the main drive on this one, so I haven't noticed a slow-down either.
Also got a Dynex (one of BBY's in-house brands) enclosure to do the transfer, it was really straightforward just using the Mac's built-in Disk Utility to copy everything - don't waste money buying software to do this, you should already have all you need. It takes several hours to copy everything over USB - I just let it run overnight. The hardest part was unscrewing the bolts from the old drive - you need a tiny Allen wrench with some good leverage.
I've only been using it for a few weeks (since end of July, 2013), so can't speak to the longevity of the drive yet - will update if/when it ever dies.
I would recommend this to a friend!

network compatibility?
i want to connect my old Seagate Momentus 5400.6 320GB SATA hard drive(its a 2.5 inch i believe.the hard drive came from my old HP laptop) to my Belkin N600 wireless router as a network drive.the router has a single USB 2.0 connection designed for this purpose.i want to make sure it will operate properly prior to buying and installing on my network.also is this available in store?as in in stock?
I bought mine in store. It works fine on a USB 2.0 port on my computer. I haven't tried with my router, but should be ok, the routers should read it the same as if a computer were reading it.
Are you sure your drive is SATA? My old HP has a PATA drive, in which case this would not work.
Either way, just bring your drive in to the store and have an employee pull this enclosure out of the box and try it with your drive.
