The picture is awesome is all lighting conditions. The sound is loud enough that you can get by without a sound bar. It has 4 HDMI ports while most others offer only 2! And the apps like Pandora, Amazon, and a decent web browser built-in mean that Smart TVs are the only way to go!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is clear motion rate the same as hertz?

Caution: Many manufacturers DOUBLE the hertz to devise their made-up clear-motion rate which isn't even an industry standard. Here a rule of thumb. If watching lots of sports/live action (240 hertz is excellent ... and 120 is decent) 60 Hz might have some blur to it now and then. Ignore manufacturers terms like Clear motion and the like as they are made-up terms anyway). Happy viewing.

apple tv and surround sound?

Can you hook up the Apple TV? Is the sound good? Or do I need a sound bar?
If Apple TV uses an HDMI port then YES , as the TV has 4 HDMIs. A sound bar is only necessary if you have a mild hearing issue or if you are an audiophile who needs theater-sound. In that case, a sound bar would be a nice add-on (I don't use one).
