Works well thus far. I'm a bit disappointed that the tether is on the USB side of the brick combo as it would've been nice to stow the USB brick *onto* a tethered brick; would be easier for my kid to have a place to keep it always.
It's a bit pricey for a 16gb unit, but your kid will love it if they're in to LEGO at all.

Thing requires an AC adapter to be plugged in to the wall to work? c'mon - at least use USB to be a little more convenient.
My sister, definitely NOT computer illiterate, was unable to get this to work as advertised with her Galaxy phone or her Kindle Fire. Couldn't "throw" browser windows, even with Chrome browser installed. Couldn't do anything more than what every smart TV on the market already offers.
I got it for her so she could show her phone's content on her TV as her son likes to watch videos, etc on her phone so much. Was a total bust. Do not recommend.

Make sure you try this thing out either before you buy it, or immediately afterward. It didn't work with my Yoga 13 or my Lumia Icon phone. I knew Miracast was something that wasn't prevalent, but I would have expected Windows 10 tech preview and the Lumia Icon to both support it; neither did.
So make sure you either do a ton of research & reading to figure out if/where/when your device supports Miracast, or unbox this thing the second you get home and try it out. I ended up returning it.

Got this for $40 to use as a dev phone to test my apps. The unit is very impressive for this price. If you're looking for a solid WP and don't want a contract, I'd highly advise going with this guy.

What's great about it: Very compact
What's not so great: Still overpriced
These things aren't worth more then $10 in my book, but this was halfway close to that and is very compact. It's got the 3.4A total output so you get 2.1 and 1.3 which helps to charge phones faster than other cheaper alternatives.

What's great about it: Battery life, call quality, feature selection
What's not so great: Button placement & usage, too talkative, limited comfort
Went in to the store to pick up a "cheap" Bluetooth headset as my latest one had broken. I settled on this guy and really couldn't be happier.
Phone: Nokia Lumia Icon
Pros:
* Great compatibility. Supports streaming - so navigation and music come through - along with conversation.
Cons:
* Voice of the unit sometimes talks "too long" like while picking up a phone call "Answering call..." which i'm sure causes a delay for the caller an can be a little annoying
* Still isn't automatic which direction power button goes to turn on/off, where the power button is located, and which side of the rocker switch is volume up vs down
* Have found that I can't wear it for more than an hour or so before my ear starts to ache. Will be getting a custom earmold for this for sure.

What's great about it: 5ghz WiFi *everywhere*, easy set up
What's not so great: Expensive
This thing was literally plug & play. Didn't even have to put in my user/pass for my DSL provider. It just worked.
Beyond that, I now get 5GHz wifi *everywhere* in my house where with my old router I lost it when I went upstairs. It's pretty much amazing. Not only that, but you can also configure the router through an external (Linksys-controlled) website, so you can tweak settings, etc when you aren't home. Really good for power users.

Do you have to plug Chromecast into a power source or charge it?
Plugs in to a 110v outlet via an AC adapter. This is the only way it's powered.

VGA or HDMI port?
My TV does not have a USB port, but is HD and has VGA and HDMI ports (which we use to play Netflicks through a laptop). Can I use Chromecast if I get a converter cable, eg. USB-to-HDMI?
It plugs directly in to HDMI.

Does the TV need to be a HDTV in order for the chromecast to work or can it be a regular tv that has a HDMI Port?
Only requires an HDMI port and a power outlet.

I don't understand . . . does this device plug into a HDMI port on the TV or some other port (such as USB)? Seems like the product specs would address such a fundamental question!
HDMI port AND an outlet. Requires an AC adapter which plugs in to wall to power the thing.
