it was a bit difficult to set up (expect to reset it a few times to get it right) but I finally got it to perform well. Not quite as complete as the Onkyo controller I needed to replace, but it does enough, plus it can be used to control a DVD/CD player, TV and FIOS box. The trade off works.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Most wireless computer mice show a tiny square piece that comes (usually displayed to the right) with the mouse. What is the name of this device? Can it be bought by itself? Will this piece work with any wireless mouse?
it is the mouse's receiver and they're paired to a specific frequency; if your mouse has a reset button for a receiver, it may be able to find a new receiver, but I've never seen the receivers sold by themselves. Think about it - if any mouse worked with any receiver, one mouse would be able to control all of the computer cursors within 15 or so feet in an office area.

yes - and further - I tried it (but it had an unobstructed line to the receiver)

USB charging cable
My charging cable got thrown out with the Christmas wrapping. Could I buy one and what is the cost? I need it before January 30.
If you need a micro usb, this comes with a cable (usb to micro usb) as well as the external battery. it takes a charge and charges a device with this cable (you just reverse the cable, so you need a device that can send power through a usb) - and it really works!
