This was a second pair to replace a set that stopped working. And these also stopped working around 5 months into use. Maybe my son is just hard on them, but I ended up buying a more expensive, more durable set and they are still going fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my first experience with Comcast (or Xfinity). I was with VZ Fios for a long time. Thought I try and save a little money. This modem works well, I get really good speeds for what Comcast says I should have. Its operation is simple and it just works. My only complaint is the user interface - I think it lacks functionality - I wish I could tweak it more. But for a simple modem, it is great. Comcast, or Xfinity, on the other hand isn't so great - lots of system reboots where I have zero connectivity or TV service - even the DVR doesn't work during those times. And there seem to be a lot of them.
I recommend the modem, not the service.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Will this modem limit capabilities of Airport Extreme?

I want to get and Airport Extreme to put downstream of my modem, hoping to get the advantages of the 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology and dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Does this modem limit the signal such that those features won't help me?
I have an older Airport Extreme hooked up to it for my WiFi. It works fine once you get it communicating. I initially hooked my computer directly to the modem, got it all up to date and working well, then added the Airport Extreme in. I had to set the Network to DHCP and NAT for an Xbox One. Other than that, it just took some time to get all the settings correct. I used internet discussion pages to do that. All-in-all, it should work fine.

Does this modem have a telephone jack like comcast modems for phones?

no, it does not.

it is simply a high-speed data modem with a single network plug.
