This seems to protect my camera well. It's a bit bigger than I need, but that works out okay. Wish it had a pocket that sealed in some way. I wasn't sure about the horizontal orientation, but after using it, it seems to work fairly well that way.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was told that I would need one of these to go along with my Canon - PowerShot G16 12.1-Megapixel Digital Camera, but there's already a charger of this type included with the camera.

I was having a horrible time deciding between this camera and the Sony a line of mirrorless cameras. I decided that this seemed like a really good camera with a lot of functionality and it still had a view finder (I like to rock it old school sometimes, especially when it's crazy sunny) without paying a lot more. This camera takes AMAZING low light photos! I almost never use the flash, even when the camera tells me to raise it. It takes nice quick photos and is a great semi-compact size for a camera with so many features. I love it :)

Does this camera come with an optical viewfinder?

Yes it does. The focus points do not show it in, but it is helpful in bright light situations.
