Samsung - Galaxy Tab Pro - 8.4" - 16GB
Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro Tablet: You can easily watch movies and shows on the go using the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro, which features an 8.4" touch screen that's large enough to ensure clear media viewing and small enough to facilitate transport. The 16GB storage offers room to house pictures, videos, music and other important files. Plus, you can connect to the Web to check your e-mail and access social media.

Bottom line: a great price for great performance hampered by a slow interface. With a bit of effort (maybe 4 hours total), can be turned into a fast, smooth tablet customized to your own taste.
The details:
The bad first: I would have given this 5 stars except for two things:
1. Samsung's TouchWiz interface
2. The physical Home and capacitive back/running buttons.

The good:
1. The size is "just right": more readable than a 7", easier to hold than a 10".
2. The price: at $249 is was a very good deal, it's now lower until they run out.
3. Solid build. Bright, clear screen.
4. Screamingly fast once you get rid of TouchWiz and the bloatware (more on that below). I don't notice *any* lag (admittedly, I use it as a reader/video viewer/web surfer, not a game machine).
5. Decent battery life: I don't think I've run it to below 50%. Seems to run about 10%/hour of web surfing with the screen at abut 25% brightness -- which is actually pretty bright and which would imply about 8 hours of effective lifetime).
6. Has an SD card slot

Getting rid of the bloat.
1. Root the tablet (yes, this will void your warranty). Instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661198
2. Install a custom recovery (I'm partial to TWRP):

3. Back up you original installation with TWRP
4. Flash a debloated ROM. I'm running this one:

5. Install Nova launcher (from the Play Store) and adjust the settings to your liking (you can make the interface look very much like Lollipop if you want)
6. Install Xposed framework:

7. From within the Xposed installer you can browse and install a wide range of modules to let you tweak the system to your heart's content. I'm runing the following:
- App Settings. Lets me set things like dpi, permissions, orientation, etc. on a per-app basis
- AppOpsXposed: re-instates the AppOpps setting that Google deleted from Android 4.3+
- Burnt Toast: shows app icon in Toast notifications (not vital, but looks cool and can be useful when you see an oddball notification and want to know which app generated it).
- Gravity Box(KK): lots of tweaks. I use it mainly to replace the battery icon in the status bar with the % charge
- KitKat SD Card full Access: Allows write to SD card
- Phab 7: Select phone / phablet / tablet UI
- SwipeBack: let's you go back by swiping the screen
-XSSSID Indicator: shows what WiFi network you're connected to in the status bar

Free Storage
How much actual usable storage is there? I know with Galaxy S4 there was a big problem with the 16 GB models because you could only use about 7 GB.
"disk usage" app shows 12GB available, but some of that is occupied by the default apps. I currently have about 5 GB available on the tablet and 9BG left on my 32GB SD card.

will the tab pro 8.4 play my amazon videos
does it support flash player so as to view amazon videos
KitKat doesn't officially support Flash, but I did sideload it without any trouble. I run Dolphin browser, which does support flash (and all the content I've tried runs just fine) so in principle you could watch Amazon videos via the website. I haven't been able to get the Amazon video player to run on any tablet (admittedly, I haven't tried very hard).

Does this have 3G/4G provision?
I know this tablet doesn't need a data plan. But would I be able to use a data plan if I don't have Wi-fi?

What is the warranty situation on this tablet ?
I heard that this tablet sold by Best Buy, is not covered by the standard samsung warranty. Is that true ? If not, can someone please explain the warranty included with this Samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4. What is the duration ? What is covered ? etc.

The warranty statement in the box says it's warranted against defects for 1 year by Samsung -- with all the usual exclusions, of course!
