This is great product if you want to get off of cable TV or satellite TV. Of course you are at the mercy of the over the air broadcasters and the strength of their signal. We seem to have no problems except for the local FOX station here is Austin. Other than that it works fine.
We use this antenna in conjunction with our Apple TV. Between the two we get most of the TV we want. NO down side.
Installation is super easy. What more can I say?
I would recommend this to a friend!

does it work on regular tv's, or does it have to be an HD tv?

You can only get HD TV with an HD TV ! The signal should work for a non-HD TV only you wont get HD picture.
