I use this memory card case for about half dozen CF Cards as well as microSDs for video. It's simple, useful and cost a lot less than any name brand case.

I absolutely love this thing. With built in steaming I can watch whatever I want on my iPad within my house. Some people use it to stream live content remotely but there are well documented restriction with copyright and HDMI. The best way around that I have found is to hook up a Slingbox M1 via component cables and using the 15 dollar Slingbox app or free desktop plugin to watch everything I pay for and control my Tivo remotely. It's a very powerful box. I love it!

This router is over the top for a normal residential wireless network. BUT........ It's way cool!! This thing has so many features that are easily accessible: extra wifi security, parental controls, guest networks, it even has a way that you can connect TWO separate modems ( different ISPs ) so it can support 2 internet sources through the one router.

My family and I started using Bobbles to make an interesting way to get the kids to drink more water. The problem I've run into is that I've had more than a few cracked upon opening the box. They are great when they work out of the box but awfully frustrating when you need to change a filter and it's cracked. Totally unusable and it has to be thrown away.

I purchased the TiVo Roamio and two of these Tivo Minis. The Minis tap into the four tuners ( or six if you have the upgraded Roamios ) via your home network. It is a little complicated to set up if you have no technological experience. There are many forums and help online so I won't get into that here, but the great thing about these TiVo Minis is that they have the Lifetime Subscription included with the purchase price! OnDemand from xfinity is also supported and that goes great with the Netflix app, Amazon Prome, Hulu Plus, Vudu and YouTube built right in!

I have been a Comcast customer for a long time and it's no secret that the raising costs of programming and equipment has put a sour taste in many folks' mouths. The equipment the company gives out has always been subpar at best. However if you want your OnDemand service, there was never an alternative.
UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO!!
TiVo has the best mainstream DVR around. Super responsive and easy to search for programs. I never could consider purchasing one until they would roll Xfinity OnDemand support out in the Salt Lake Market. For a couple years I found myself looking at the TiVo website to see if anymore markets were supported besides the same handful of cities that was lucky enough to have it.
Then I stopped looking. One day I was aimlessly surfing the web and strolled on over to TiVo.com and sure enough ALL MARKETS SUPPORTED!
Immediately I purchased a TiVo Roamio ( 4 tuner ) and 2 Tivo Minis. I went to my local Comcast store and grabbed a cable card ( I asked for 4 of them because there is quite the history of cable cards not activating properly.... Google it. ) they are either Free or a 1.50 if you have 2 or more. With my set up I only needed one cable card as the TiVo minis network in to the main hub and use its tuners. I price matched Amazon and got the Roamio for $150 and the TiVo Minis I price mached for $130 a piece. Follow the instructions that come with each device and set up will be less of a headache. I now have Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Xfinity OnDemand, YouTube and Vudu on all my Tivos!!
******Now this part is important *****
The TiVo Roamio has a lifetime subscription of $499 or $14.99 per month or $150 for a year. I chose the $150 for a year just in case a super cool new technology comes out that cleans the house AND supports cable.
The cool thing about the TiVo Minis is that the Lifetime Subscription is included in the purchase! At least at the time I purchased them. I imagine it will stay that way for a while.
Once everything was set up and working the feeling of bringing all of the DVRs I was leasing for almost 20 bux a piece back to the cable store was wonderful!!
This is a great system, my bill has dropped by almost $65 a month just forom ditching the equipment.
I know some folks get the TiVo just to quit cable and record the antenna signals but I love all my channels. They are worth it to me and my family so I find the value in paying a premium price for them. However, now my system has had a major upgrade and in the long term it saves me a lot of money!

Can I eliminate the cable with a smart tv?
With Roamio Plus, can I connect only to internet without cable?
Yes absolutely. The Tivo Roamio is a great with and without cable. It will run your Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus subscriptions straight from the menu. As well as YouTube, Vudu and more.
HOWEVER....
I will say that the Tivo Roamio line is WAAAAAAYYYY better when you combine its usage with a cable service. But I am aware that people do get the TiVo to hopefully cut the cord (cable). Worth looking into.

I want to replace my 2 rented Comcast devises will the TiVo roamio plus dvr work on 2 tv's in different rooms?

Yes may ABSOLUTELY replace your cable boxes for Tivo. Unsure how familiar you are with Tivo, but there is a small investment upfront for years if cable company savings. The TiVo must be purchased as well as a lifetime subscription per box . Check that out on TiVo.com .
The first configuration I had was the most simple. I had the main TiVo you are referring to in my living room and connected Tivo Minis ( x 2 ) in two other rooms. Via my home network I used 2 of the TiVo Plus' tuners to watch the Tivvo Minis. It's great!! The best part about this configuration is that the TiVo Mini comes with lifetime service so no need to pay anything aside from the purchase price of the Minis. BUT they MUST be used in tandem with a "hub" ( any Tivo Roamio box ).
Last but certainly not least, you do need a cable card from Comcast to make it pick up your channels. It also supports OnDemand! Which is awesome! The first cable cars is free and any additional is around 1.50 month. Make sure to pick up an M-Card so it has multi stream capabilities. ( hence the M ). DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU TIVO IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH COMCAST.

Can I buy a COX cable modem at Best Buy for less.
Anyone buy an Arris 600 Series DOCSIS 3.0 Cable modem? Is this the same one COX cable sells or rents?
Yes, any modem that has a coaxial connection can support your cable company's High Speed Data. But as long as your getting a modem that says its DOCSIS 3.0 compatible, then you will have as future proof a modem as possible. As far as the brand, Arris is a ver popular brand for cable company's own inventory so if it works for them than it must be just fine.... Just one other piece of advice... If you have Cable Digital Voice home phone service, you will need a modem that supports both Telephony and High Speed Data.
