I purchased this printer for college. To some it might seem somewhat large, but it really doesn't take up as much space as one might think. The set-up is simple and well explained. The printer provides one with many different options: printing, scanning, faxing, and copying. It also prints amazing photos.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Scanning/copying: Must the lid be closed?

I understand that the lid is not hinged in a way that permits it to be closed over thick items, such as books. Does the lid actually NEED to be closed when copying or scanning? That is, will these functions still work with the lid open?
I believe so. I have printed things and copied things with the lid open and nothing went wrong.
