I replaced a older cannon after reading all review from the cannon and the epson v550 the epson has better resolution and better software for mac. After performing all updates the scanner works flawlessly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

How fast does the V550 scan? How many seconds or minutes per scan?

It all depends on the quality of your scan. I'm scanning 35 mm slides. At 2400 dpi and it take about 1 min per slide. The quality is perfect.
