When using wirelessly the sound cuts in and out often

When the headset is turned on, Are you able to turn on and off the mic? And if its off, will the *mic logo* be shown in game (example, Black Ops 2)

You can turn the mic on/off with the switch on the cord and the mic logo will be visible whenever the mic is plugged into your controller
