I had a similar problem, I didn't realize the mic extended out of the actual headset tho. Once I did that, it was perfect. The only other experience I can share is that with some microphones are so sensitive that you just need to make sure your far enough away from the sound source or keep the sound source on low volume so that it doesn't get picked up when she's talking. Maybe get a cheap stand-alone mic for her to talk into, and use the krakens for her to plug into the TV to hear, this way the TV/computer isn't blasting into the mic, distorting her speech.
