You always have to pay for content. If you have a Netflix account you can use it. If you don't have an account you can't. Simple.

Is this box essentially converting a HDMI TV to a smart TV? What is the difference between a smart tv and a dumb tv with a Amazon?
DOes it matter how old my TV is to work...as long as I have HDMI? My current tv is about 8

Yes it is like making your time to a smart TV. Only better. Smart TV, and blue ray are nor. Ally a bit frustrating. This isn't. It is easy to use and will work on any TV with an hdmi put.
