As an Amazon Prime media consumption device it can not be beat for the price. If you are not a Prime member don't bother. Put the fifty bucks toward an iPad which can't be topped for a media device.

I had it with me on a cruise. I set it to auto and just took pictures. The only time I changed the setting was when snorkeling, I set it to underwater mode. The pictures are fantastic. There are plenty of setting if you want to control the shot but, I found no need to do that. I didn't want to be bothered with my DSLR so this is what I used. I could not be happier with the purchase.

I own three chrome devices. Asus chromebox for my flat screen tv, Toshiba Chromebook 2 with IPS display and now the Acer Chromebook. I was going to buy another Chromebox for the flat screen tv in the bedroom then I saw this on sale. I purchased it instead. I'm very happy I did, it is just as fast as the Chromebox but you get a fully functioning laptop if an occasion should arise that it's needed. The screen is not the greatest but, it works well enough.

When I used it to connect my computer to the tv (computer's DVI to Hdmi on TV) I was surprised that I got sound too. I didn't need a separate sound connection. Your experience would of course depend on your video card.

The Picture is clear, bright and has high contrast. There are setting to change to your preference. The sound is what surprised me, I thought we would have to get a sound bar. The sound is plenty loud and very clear. The only thing I found lacking was the "Smart Apps". I have a Roku and a Chromebox connected to it and that combination beats the "Smart Apps: hands down. If you just want to steam a movie or netflix, I'm sure the "Smart Apps" are fine.

What's great about it: It works well enough.

What's not so great: Fit and finish could be better.

It works well enough even though it doesn't seem to lay flat. I was surprised that apple put a product out that's fit and finish wasn't perfect.
That said, an iPad isn't an iPad without the Smart Cover.

Just sign in to your kindle account and everything is available in the cloud. If you have access to the Internet, it's no problem.

It is Bluetooth enabled. All you need is Bluetooth speakers or a Bluetooth dongle attached to external input on your sound system.

Can this computer run excell and basic cad programs?

I do a lot of customer consults in the home and I need to run a excell based pricing program and a basic cad layout program.

No it can't run excel, it only runs a chrome browser

I have a tablet that will not allow me to play video that requires Adobe Flash. Will that be a problem?

Yes. Flash is built into Chrome browser.

Yes, There is a Kindle app. Also anything you can read online you can read on a Chromebook. May I also recommend the "Readability App "(search in web Store) It changes any web page into a readable document that you can also send to the Kindle app to read later.

No, you can not install Programs on a Chromebook. The operating system is just a Chrome Browser. Thats not to say that it doesn't handle pictures well, Because it does (for most people). IF you can get by with a web app to handle photo edits. Most people don't need Photoshop but if you do this is not the machine for you.

Ok I don't have wifi in my home but I do have a modem and ethernet cord that provide the internet for my desktop computer how do I get internet/wifi to the chromebook? and what exactly is a wireless router? would I need one of those?

You need WiFi for almost everything you can do with a Chromebook. Best buy can hook you up with the Wifi Router.
