I have made many recordings on these discs and many of them have skips on them. I have checked the original discs and they are fine. I can only think that I got some bad blanks.

I don't see why not, as you probably have only 2 wires from your sony going to your amp.

Can you connect to another stereo system ? Using line out / line in?
I am using this to replace a kenwood 5 disc player. Both wires go to the amplifier and separate wires from the amplifier go to the speakers.

Yes it requires external speakers. You will need an amplifer.

Does this play itself , or do i have to hook it to a receiver. Also, can I purchase speakers at Best Buy?
There are no speakers on this. You must hook it up to an amplifier. You will need to contact for the speakers.
