Modem was a snap to hook up. Once the ISP authorized the modem we were good to go. Ran speed checks are we are pulling down maximum upload and download speeds.
One downside is that there is no on/off switch so to turn it off it must be unplugged.
I would recommend this to a friend!

will this modem be able to replace comcasts arris tm 722g

i want to get rid of comcast rental modem and buy my own. tell me which modems are compatiable.
This modem is compatible with Comcast/Xfinity.
I use Comcast and the modem works fine attaining very close to maximum speeds in a recent speed check.
It is listed on Comcast's list of supported modems so you shouldn't have any problems using it with Comcast.

Does Motorola have a high speed modem with a switch?

I LIKE TO DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET WHEN NOT IN USE. MAYBE I COULD ADD SOME SORT OF SWITCH?? ANY IDEAS?
All you need do is pull the power adapter out of the modem. I would prefer an on/off switch myself but there is not one so I just unplug it.

must the modem remain vertical or can it be laid horizontally?

The modem is designed to be vertical with the foot pads on the bottom. However, only one side of the modem is vented to I don't why you couldn't lay it down on the non-vented side.
