What's not so great: Difficult sound configurations
Bought this receiver to replace a Harmon Kardon. Love Pioneer sound quality but getting there is unnecessary headaches. Also receiver always default to TV setting regardless of which input selected (for example, TV/SAT is what is desired). John Q. Public doesn't have enough knowledge to decrypt the multiple configuration levels...odd approach by Pioneer Elite.

How can I hook this up to a tv with only a digital optical output?
Optical outputs are sound only up to 5.1 surround. The sound is clean but you need to find a method to get video to your TV...ie HDMI, Composite (RGB) or coax. That would determine the video quality also.
