What's great about it: I can fold it back and the buttons stop working
What's not so great: Price
I think that this is a cool keyboard. I think the price may be a little too high, but it is the only real choice for this device other than the keyboard without the backlight. Also, I would like the keys to sit up a little higher; feels like the keys are a little too flat. Overall, it's a solid keyboard!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Backlit Effects?

Does the type cover backlit feature affect the surface's performance in any way?
I don't think so. My battery and the overall speed of my Surface seem to be just fine. It doesn't produce an noticeable drag or battery drain at all.

What is the best case for the surface rt and keyboard?

Case? Just buy a small zipper carrying case for it. I don't keep a case on mine. I just drop it in my computer bag and go however; whenever I place it on a surface I ensure that I sit it on the keyboard side. The bottom of the keyboard is made specifically to be placed on surfaces and it protects your device as well.

Real keys?

I can't tell from the pictures, does this keyboard have real keys (the kind that actually move down when you press them)? I have the original surface with touch keypad and find it VERY difficult to use so I am looking for something with real keys.
Yes, it does have real keys. You would really enjoy the difference in the feel of the Type Keyboard in contrast to the Touch Keyboard. I would recommend you pick up the Type 2 because of the backlit keys as well.
