This is NOT a smart TV, but save your money and buy a Roku 3 for $99 or less on sale. You cannot find a better picture than plasma. Ignorance is making plasmas extinct. They no longer are energy hoggers. They have anti-glare screens and burn in protection. Buy excellent hdmi cables and leave settings at 50% for first 100 hours for burn in. Then change settings as desired. Settings make all the diifernce and hdmi cables. I have found most of the default settings work great. I can only hope there will be plasmas when I buy another tv in 10 years. This one should last me for a long time.

Are Plasma TV's becoming obsolete?

I believe they are due to ignorance which is a shame as they are better than led's and are no longer energy hoggers.

is this model a "smart" tv?

No it is not. It is not worth the money in my opinion to buy a smart tv. Have you tried a Roku 3? They are $99 and work off wifi and allow for sw updates of your tv too.

What is the size dimension of the stand?

Looking to see if this will fit on my existing entertainment center. Can someone provide me with the dimensions of the stand that comes with it?

I have a 3 year old, 50" version

I have a 3 year old, 50" version of this Samsung plasma. 6 months ago we started to notice a very slim vertical line running the full length of the screen (near the center). It starting out just showing up occasionally then progressively got worst and now the line is always there. Then it started to develop another slim vertical line and now it is up to 3 vertical lines! I've tried everything and every adjustment in the settings but lines are still present. Any suggestions!! We love this TV and picture quality and hate that this problem has occurred!
It's likely a Crack in the screen.
