Can I use this product as a repeater?

I have configured it as an extender, and it works fine but when I skype and my mobile switches from the router to the extender (and vice versa) the connection fails. Can I use this as a repeater and so fixes my problem?
Just set your mobile device to switch networks when out of range. Name your extender with your router network name and add -xt at the end of the name. That way you can switch to the xt if necessary
