Good soundbar for general use

This soundbar is good for general use. Don't expect great thundering bass response even though it has a sub woofer. It does have several acoustic settings only one of which I find some what acceptable. If you are building a home theater do not go this route. But then this is not what I purchased this for in the first place. It was for sound from my gaming system which it produces just fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Compatible with surround sound?

Is this set compatible with a surround sound setup? I'm a novice, so I want to be sure I'm purchasing the best option for my hubs.
It could but if used would be best suited as the center speaker. The sub woofer is not adequate for a surround system used in a home theater. Personally I use much higher end discrete components. Like a current sourcing amplifier to start a system. Harmon Kardon is my choice. Separate amp for the sub woofer. 200 watts per channel or better. Remember low bass takes power. Sub must also be able to take the power. Jensen, Kicker are a few good choices.

I have an Insignia tv that "rattles"

I bought an insignia TV, which I would tell everyone to NOT buy one, but it "rattles" the sound is blurry and really bad quality. If I buy a sound bar will this take care of the "rattle" or will it just throw the low quality sound of my tv to the front? I don't understand how the sound bars work. Again! DO NOT BUY an Insignia TV. Really bad quality and the warranty isn't worth a hoot, in fact it's useless, might as well not have a warranty.
I have the same problem with a LG. The sound bar will fix the problem. After you hook up the sound bar go into the sound menu settings on your tv and turn off the tv's speakers.
