The sound quality is really good for voice as well as music. Use for quick weather status, news overview as well as radio stations by singers name. Also ask many questions of interest. Search is not as comprehensive as Google Search but that is not a big issue for me. Also purchased Echo Dot for my bathroom. Really like the convenience. Volume not as laud as the larger Echo.

The combination of fast lense 1.8 and ISO settings produces wonderful low light pictures without needing the flash. The view finder is good for bright sunlight but no setting info is displayed. Still better than none. Continuous shooting frames per second is outtanding and better than most DSL cameras. Don't let 12 megapixels fool you the advanced processor is also used on DSL cameras and picture quality is very good. The Tele focus range is more than needed for most users. I thought of stepping up one level of Canon camera but it was smaller and did not feel as good in my hands. I would but it again.

NOT being cold resistant

What are the specifics of NOT being cold resistant? What temperature is used? How would a person keep this camera warm enough to use?
Taking a warm camera from inside to a cold environment is an issue for all cameras especially with high humidity. It's physics. Alloy the camera to acclimate to the conditions. Also happens with lenses on eye glasses. They both can fog up. I put my camera in a coat pocket but this still requires time for temp to settle out.

Lens coating easily scratched

Has Canon fixed the problem with the lens coating being easily scratched?
Not a problem for me. My small belt case is rigid over the lense area yo protect the lense assembly. If lense cover blades are struck I imagine they could come in contact with the lense. Lense filters help prevent scratches but is not provided for on the G16. So I take precautions.
