I don't normally review products that I purchase. But this product deserves one.
Let's start with the size. It's tiny. Really tiny. Which is why I lost my first one and bought another. Because it's easy to lose track of, I recommend keeping it in the carrying case that attaches to the shoulder strap.
The device itself is simple. Plug it in, set the camera to have WiFi on, and that's it. The app is a little different.
There have been nasty reviews about the app, most of which I don't find proof of. You can get the app for free in the app store. In order to connect to the camera, you have to make sure your mobile device recognizes the WiFi, which is in a form similar to Nikon_WU_12345678. Connect to it, open the app, and you're all set. The remote connection to take pictures may be a little laggy sometimes, but it's never for long. Downloading pictures, which is what I use the device for primarily, is very quick and easy.
Thanks, Nikon, for making it so much easier to upload car pics onto Instagram!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can you view the screen?

I'd like to know what I'm doing when taking a video since the screen isn't a flip ot.
The WU-1a unfortunately doesn't allow you to take videos. When taking remote pictures, you will see the screen though.

WU-1A to iPhone

In my nikon D3200 planing to buy WU-1A adapter using my iPhone to remote can I use w/o a wifi connection for taking outdoor picture ?
Connecting to the device is the only connection you'll need to take remote pictures. You must remember that the range is at most 39 ft!

Can the image be sent to email via a laptop using the wireless adapter?

Unfortunately, no. It must be a mobile device with the WMU app installed. From there it's easy to email pics to your computer.
