What's great about it: Easy to set up & Easy to use too!
After hearing about Slingbox for a long time on local Sports Radio, I bought one and gave it a try. I am sure glad that I did! This device was easy to set up and even easier to use. It allows me to watch all my home channels on my laptop and /or smartphone. Now I don't have to miss any Tigers, Lions, or Red Wings games when I am not home, Works great and even in HD!

We bought this product to help cool down a small cottage in Northern Michigan. Used it for 2 days when the weather was in the upper 80s and lower 90s. This unit did not cool down the cottage at all. But to be fair, the humidity was pretty high also and based on other reviews it doesn't seem this product helps much during humid days. We returned the product at our local Best Buy store for a full refund with no questions asked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If I hook up sling box to my tv, can i watch on any laptop without downloading an app?

Yes, I was able to connect Slingbox to my TV and watch my home TV on my laptop without downloading any app. I was required to set up a Slingbox Account online and that was it!
