Android Tablets are tricky things. Because each manufacturer has to build the android software for each piece of hardware, even tablets with solid specs, like this one, might be somewhat sluggish. That's the story here. The specs are similar to many finer devices, such as the Nexus 7. The nVidia Tegra 3 is a great system-on-chip (SOC), and yet this tablet is a somewhat chunky performer, even with basic 3D games. I think the Tegra is underclocked.
Still, it's fairly priced, has a nice screen, plays videos very well, and performs tablet basics just fine.
The only other mark against it is that the mfg (Insignia) has seemingly dropped support for it and won't offer any upgrades in the OS department (outside of a single upgrade to a still-old version of Android). And all you Android "hackers" out there, there are no custom ROMs available, nor will there likely ever be. It can be rooted fairly easily however.
So the four stars are for being a solid medium-low-end tablet with a great screen for video. For the price.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Insignia Flex 10.1 Display problem

My Flex 10.1 display only shows 3/4 of the screen when in landscape. It cuts off where it would (width) in portrait. I have tried master reset etc. I bought this today and it has been like this since I first tuned it on.
I'd bring it back immediately - that's not a typical bug
