I spent a lot of time researching receivers, unless you are going to spend a lot of money, I recommend this product. The advertised 725 Watts is misleading because each speaker is getting much less than that. My Sony is hooked up to a Samsung TV and Comcast Cable Box. It is more than adequate for my needs, reasonable, $149 at Best Buy and simple to use for surround mode. Mine connected to Bose 301 front speakers, Bic America center speaker, Klipsch surround and Bic America sub woofer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't spend the extra money for Ultra HD, that's how good the picture is on Samsung Smart TV is. I only spent $349 at Best Buy plus another $60 for 5 year warranty policy, which I recommend. My TV is hooked up to a 5.2 Sony Receiver with HDMI Cables which in turn is hooked up to my Comcast Cable Box also using HDMI Cable. If you want surround sound, be sure and make sure your cable box is in the surround mode by going to "tools" on your box.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like it a lot, an improvement over my prior GPS. I don't have to keep programming the name of the city. The letters are like on a typewriter which is also an improvement.

Love it; my Cable, DVD Player and Apple TV are hard wired directly to my Receiver then out to the TV using HDMI Cables so when I turn the Receiver OFF there's no picture. Under these circumstances it's difficult to tell that the TV is still ON because there's no light indicating it's On. It would be an improvement if it had an ON light, I'm okay with it but if I get a guest using it most of the time the TV is left ON.

I just want to connect 4 speakers (2 big and 2 small) to this to listen to music. Not for video. How should or what port on the back should I connect them to in order to have a great sound because it has surround, left, right and just don't know. Thanks

I would hook up the big speakers to the Front Speaker ports on the back of the Sony Receiver and the smaller ones to the surround ports. Then go to the menu on the remote and press Stereo and you'll get sound from all 4 speakers. If you are getting a "surround" broadcast, try experimenting with Dolby Surround.

Can I adjust bass and treble with this receiver? Or is bass and treble adjusted elsewhere?

Yes, after going to the Menu look for Equalizer. You can turn up or down Bass and Treble.

my movies are playing in black and white,how do i get the color to work?

Try other portals on the TV or on the TV INPUT, go the AV 1.
