I caught this headset on sale for $9.99 but with my $5 gift certificate I only paid $4.99 for it. Overall I'm satisfied with this headset. I got it for my PS4 because the headset that comes with it didn't fit well in my ear and constantly fell out. It connects just like the headset that comes with the PS4. I have had this headset for a few months now.
Pros: The sound and clarity of this headset is great. Haven't had any cut out & everyone can hear me clearly. The microphone collapse towards the earpiece when not in use which I like a lot. Earpiece is pretty comfortable and I have wore the headset well over 5 hours. Also it has a on/off switch on the cord so you can easily mute yourself if you are talking to someone else in the room with you.
Cons: You can only wear this set on your left ear because of the design and the way the microphone only collapses one way. So you can't switch to your right ear if you wanted to. If you did your microphone would be behind your head. My biggest gripe. Also the piece that goes over your head could have been more flexible but isn't that uncomfortable.
Overall a great headset if you don't mind wearing the earpiece only on your left ear and if you don't find the overhead piece too be uncomfortable as I do. Recommended if you are looking for cheap and decent headset.

Would this headset work in a smartphone? What size is the plug?

Yes it will. I have tried on my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. The sound is pretty good too. You can also use voice commands as well. I think the input jack is the same size commonly use in all phones nowadays. Which I think is a 2.5mm or 3.5mm input. Hope that answers your question.
