Arrived in flawless condition, well packaged.

This is hands-down the best router on the market. It gets even better with both an iOS device and a Mac running OS X, but it can be configured with a PC as well.

I cannot stress enough how easy it is to add multiple base stations including airport expresses and old versions of the extreme to BLANKET your house (and backyard/driveway) with full-strength wifi.

And it looks good!

Haven't used it much. Sturdy. Wire organizer is nice. However, device charging must be initiated by pressing a button while the unit itself is charging. This makes it a less than an ideal coupler or backup in the case of power outages. Probably not a concern for most applications.

Can I use this to control lighting and open a door?

I have a German door that can be operated electronically. I want to be able to unlock my door and turn certain lights on from my Apple iPhone just before arriving home. Does this system do that and how does it work? What do you need to make it work?

No. Assuming your lock is z-wave compatible, what you need is a z-wave hub such as a Samsung SmartThings Hub.

Will this remote control a amazon fire stick?

Yes, the hub is able to be added to a FTV [stick] as a Bluetooth device. It works great. It does not allow for the voice control that some FTV remotes have.

Harmony Smart Control RF question

Can it communicate RF to the hub then IR to the devices? How does the IR blaster connect to the hub? Can you get IR emitters to attach to the front of each device you want to control so you can keep everything centralized in a rack? If so how do they connect to the hub and where do you buy them? Can I see a drawing of the connections points?

2.5mm jack, two ports on hub. Can be spliced.

If I have components Harmony does not have in their database can this remote learn individual IR commands from my IR remotes? Could I reasssign any (seldom used) button previously programmed from Harmony's database to a command learned from my IR remote?

Yes, I do this with some generic HDMI switches.

Will this device work with a Fios DVR stb?

Yes. Compare with picture of remote to determine if the functions you require will have a place to map on this remote. The record, dvr, and four color buttons allow for both press and hold mappings. The three grey buttons are used exclusively to select the harmony activity (6 including press and hold).

Does this remote blast ir out as well as the smart hub? my tv is in another room with no wiring for the ir expansion in place?

No, the remote only talks to the hub.
