yes! or at least they are so far!
i recently switched from the astro A50's due to zack in support and the several recent issues (check their forums). they use to be so awesome so i actually felt a bit sad switching.
i love not having a wire attached between the controller and headset which i thought was the greatest design flaw of the xb1. it's great that TB fixed that. :)
the sound is pretty darn great and i've had our platoon do several mic checks. it seems to work flawlessly and it does not pick up the tv or the wife yelling at me to stop playing (jk, she's awesome) -- but seriously, they don't hear any background noise. i was worried abt that w/o a mic that you can position right in front of my jabber box mouth. i'll do some audio/video recordings soon to confirm 100%.
cons:
- was a little tight on my skull at first but i think either i'm getting use to it or they're breaking in.
- i was never a fan of leather pads because they feel sticky compared to something like velour headphone pads (i have velour pads for my studio monitor headphones and they're amazing). still, TB probably uses leather to keep the sound locked in? idk.
- i picked up some odd feedback once but i'm not sure if that was xb1 or the wireless headset. since it only happened once i didn't pin it on them or contact support.
- purely based on opinion, i think the a50's look slightly cooler but in fairness, these don't look bad and their capabilities make them overall better.. ;)

this is a good average laptop. we ought this for a young man that will need it to go to school.
llike all laptops, we had to remove loads of software. once we cleaned it up a bit, it ran well and will do exactly what he needs.

the two i kept i keep plugged into my laptop and they are small enough that i can put my laptop in my bag without removing them.

i've owned several astro's and have been a long time fan. there was quite a bit of popping and crackling noises with these. i switch controllers, tried exchanged for another set and several other troubleshooting tips.
i really tried to love them as much as my a40's and gen 1 a50s but even after opening a support case with them zach just tried to run me around (i will not make this a review about him even though he was terrible) and wasted my time for days.
after a week of troubleshooting and getting run in circles, i finally gave up and very sadly returned them. i felt like i broke up with a longtime girlfriend/boyfriend. it was a sad day.

What's great about it: light weight, slender and oh so pretty
What's not so great: slight screen bleed
we love of slender and sleek this laptop is. there is a slight screen bleed but it's hardly noticeable while using it so it's acceptable imo. we tried a few others but nothing felt or looked quite as good. lenovo was the runner up. :]

What's great about it: the sound and feels
What's not so great: pretty expensive and the battery is not quickly interchangeable
I've gone through several turtle beach headsets and there was always something that just wasn't right.
after some research i decided to get some A40's and they had to send me a new mic as the one that came with it sagged down by my chin but other than that they were pretty dope... i know what you're thinking, this review is for a50's!
so true, i couldn't take all the wires on the a40's and brought them back and paid the extra for these bad boys... i'm so glad i did. these fit the same as the a40's (super comfortable fit) and sound just as good imo. maybe a lil more bass which is actually nice but no more nest of wires.
imo, these slam everything else that's out right now!

Is there a way to get Windows 8 removed and replaced with Windows 8.1 if purchased in store (or in general)?
i'm pretty sure anyone that has windows 8 can upgrade to windows 8.1 for free in the windows app store. just did it on one of our asus laptops. gluck! :]
