Windows & Chrome Compatability???
I was told by the Best Buy salesman that this drive would be compatible with both Windows and Chrome. I saved my photos from my Toshiba laptop (Windows) onto the Passport drive, but when I plug it into my Chromebook, it says I cannot open the files because they're Windows format. Any suggestions? Any idea what App I would need on my Chromebook to open the Windows file?
It may be that you stored it to the default NTFS formatted drive. You probably need to re-format the drive to Fat32 before storing anything. I had problems before where another computer could not access the stored files. I normally re-format the drive to Fat32 first before doing anything. Then the files should be accessible from PCs or Macs, and probably Chrome. Good luck.

can this be used as a storage directly from security cameras?
I believe it is possible only if your security camera controller has accommadations for saving to an external hard drive.

Use as a storage device for TV?
Can I leave this plugged in to my tv (while connected to Wifi) send data like movies from my laptop to this Hd drive?
The external hard drive is just for storage. It does not have any media functions.

Can I backup a Windows 8.1 computer and XP computer on one external hard drive?
We have two computers, Win 8.1 and XP. Can both computers be backed up on one external hard drive?
I would partition the external hard drive first. If both computers used drive spaces fit, it should work out.
