Print quality is good, but the older model was a little more user friendly and had less parts to deal with.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've purchased several of these over a period of time. Unfortunately I 'needed' to because once you drop them you are doomed! My latest mistake was downloading my questionable computer onto this product, then accidentally dropping it (maybe 3 feet) which apparently damaged it almost beyond repair. BB wants $1500 to retrieve the info on the unit! I really screwed up, but as one friend pointed out - I should have used the Cloud or a Google storage instead of this unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Windows and Mac compatability

I currently have a Windows 7 PC and want to back up to this WD - can I then restore these files easily to a Mac - I am thinking of buying a Mac laptop in the near future
Works great as long as you don't drop it!!! I lost the photos of all my grandkids since birth, plus my taxes, etc. because I downloaded my whole desktop, then dropped it from a 3 foot table top. I guess you need to back-up your back-up.
