If you have a compatible machine (and most are), this is a pretty awesome upgrade from a spinning HD. Screaming fast. I've used this drive in a USB3 enclosure to boot an iMac with USB3 ports and the machine is about twice as fast as using the internal spinning HD. Yes; an excellent upgrade without even having to risk damaging the iMac by opening it.

Except for the size, just as good as the 480GB version which I also reviewed:
Older Macs with 3G SATA hardware see 6G SATA drives as 1.5G (which is awful). This PNY CS1311 has the proper electronics to downgrade itself for use as 3G in 3G Macs as well as running at the full speed 6G in newer Macs (and PCs). Have bought many of these and never had an issue. Great product.
