You are required to log into the Best Buy account for the app to work and thus this device is offline more than it is online and working. When it is working it is very slow to respond through both the app and the the Echo Dot. My wife had asked the echo Dot to turn on the bedroom lamp and it was so slow that we were already asleep when the lamp finally came on. I am taking it back to Best Buy this weekend and exchanging for something else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great and easy to set up. Responds fast unlike the insignia plug that takes 30 minutes to respond sometimes. Why pay for the expensive bulbs when you can replace the switch and control the entire fixture?

Awesome works as I had hoped. Why spend the extra money on the full blown Echo when the dot is far less money and does the same thing. We love it. I have it controlling several key lights in the house and have not touched a light switch in weeks. So nice to walk into a dark house say "Alexa turn on the lights" and the lights come on.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Need I say anymore. The kids hate it and the parents love it. So it is doing what it is supposed to do. A little difficult at first figuring out what device goes to what profile but once that is set up it is awesome. No fighting to ground from the tablet . All I get now is crying when I go to pull out my phone to shut off the internet. Every parent needs this.

Purchased these for my son to use with a keyboard he received for Christmas. They have decent sound and and held up to his abuse so far. I am an audio engineer by trade and these are certainly not meant for the true audio file but that should be a given by the price. But for a child or adult who needs a decent pair of headphones these will work just fine.

Easy to use. Very intuitive menu. I was able to set it up in 15 minutes. I probably know more about network setup than the average person by am far from an expert. I know enough to get myself in trouble.

Yes it will, but I would look at something different. This requires you to be logged into your Best Buy account to work and is slow to respond. Sometimes up to 15 minutes. I just bought ours a week ago and am planning on returning it.

do ethernet ports work even when wireless modem is turned off

to reduce exposure we turn off wireless modem when not in use. Would the Ethernet ports still be on?
No the router must be turned on for the Ethernet ports to work
