What's great about it: Picture and does not heat up the room
What's not so great: Sound, however I use a sound system 6.1
I purchased this to replace my gen2 plasma tv that used 525 watt every time I watched anything on it and thus heating up the room. This unit puts out some heat but you have to go searching for it. I changed the setting as per consumer reports recommendations then tweaked from there. It is a stunning picture and no blurring for sports or any high speed movement. It would be nice if it had a 3rd HDMI input, but I only use it occasionally so not a big deal.

Are Plasma TV's becoming obsolete?

This is the last year for Samsung, LG will continue making them for a while, so yes, they are becoming limited mostly due to energy efficiency standard and not due to picture quality. No LED LCD can match them for quality, they come close but then when you sit off to the side, you can't see the screen well on the LCD versus the Plasma.
