These are hard to find anymore. Looked at Walmart, Big Lots, and Target before finding one at Best Buy. It is a little pricey IMHO, but it is more solid than other pressboard type furniture/bookshelves. It is made of some sort of particle/press board, but it is coated by a fairly tough plastic layer. It also uses actual screws instead of those weird attachment devices that other bookcase type furniture uses. Overall I am pleased with this purchase.

What material is this made of?

It is a particle board type material, but coated in a sturdy textured black plastic. It is tougher than other bookcase types that I have seen and uses screws rather than those weird devices to hold it together.

The description says this bookcase holds about 108 DVDs. Is this true? Does anyone know exactly how many it holds?

Mine holds 29 mixed DVD and Blu-Ray on one shelf, times 4 shelves = 116 discs....this is more, but I think it's due to the Blu-Rays having thinner cases. Overall, 108 DVD's sounds right.
