I previously owned the Tivo Premiere system and after that one died, I decided to upgrade to this one. I like that the system can record up to 4 shows at once which is much better than the Premiere which only recorded 2. I also like that is can offer more streaming ability to personal devices with additional accessory purchases. The one drawback is that it only connects via an HDMI cable. The HDMI ports on my TV fried during a lightning storm and had to buy an additional cable in order to connect it to my TV.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What is the subscription fee for?

They charge a fee to use the device that you bought? What services does the fee cover? Anything?
The subscription fee covers the ability to use the box. Think of it as the monthly cost you would have to pay a cable company to use their box. The fee can be paid in 3 different ways: monthly, yearly, or lifetime (of that box).
