Great quick solution to my problem. This little guy saved me a ton of work from having to run cabling to extend the network for one of my clients that was installing a wireless doorbell cam. The distance could be a bit better, but can't be too upset given that it resolved my problem. There are more expensive devices available if you need something more powerful.
Pros:
1. Relatively inexpensive solution vs the alternative of having to run wire + additional hardware expense.
2. Decent coverage up to around 400 feet
3. Easy setup
4. Surprisingly good signal penetration in concrete
Cons:
1. More of a suggestion than a con - color options would be a nice touch in some residential situations.
I would recommend this to a friend!

****NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OPTIMUM****
I'm a 20 year IT professional so definitely did my diligence on this. This modem has very good reviews across the board. Compatibility claims to support most US carriers, but limited info was available about Optimum, but decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, wasn't compatible with Optimum. Tested the line signal and had a tech come out to ensure I was getting optimal performance, but was still a no go. It refused to lock. Tested it on Spectrum at a friend's house before returning it. Noticed a 25-30% performance increase over their existing equipment.
Pros:
1. Reasonably priced
2. Twice as fast as most carrier equipment
3. DOCSIS 3.0 -
***DOCSIS 3.1 pending release - date TBD in 2017
Cons:
1. Not compatible with Optimum
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have a Skybell door bell and it getting too much "noise". I have an ASUS N900 router placed in our home office about 90ft from the front door. Will this Wi-Fi extender solve the problem? Thank you.

Hi Bob - My review was based on the install of a Skybell also. Honestly 90ft is really not far. With a N900 you should be solid up to about 350-450ft. That's also taking into consideration obstructions and signal interference. Your situation sounds like more of an interference problem. Purchasing this extender won't necessarily solve your problem and could make it worse if you use the default channel settings. It will however, do it's job and extend or boost the signal to the Skybell, but underlying problem will still exist in your home that will continue to impact the WiFi performance of any device connected to your WiFi. I recommend that you do a network site survey. There are a number of apps you can download on your phone to check the networks broadcasting in the area. It's possible there is another one (or several) broadcasting on the same channel as your router. Change the channel on your router and test it out. Hope that helps. Good luck.
