I like my TiVo Mini more than the secondary unit I had on the X1-Xfinity system, where they charged me $10/mo. for it and another $10/mo. for it to be able to play programs recorded on my main Xfinity unit. Got mine on sale at $140, it will pay for itself in 7 months, then save $20/mo. every month as long as I continue to use TiVo!
I would recommend this to a friend!

So far, I like my TiVo more than the X1 system by Xfinity (Comcast). I have direct control over my saved videos, without having to interact with the 'office' cable system. Previously, if cable went out, I could not access my saved videos on the 'X1' unit in my own house!
I would recommend this to a friend!

bought this as my spouse's first smart phone. Have not activated under virginmobileusa as service provider yet. She plans on looking at it some time in the next month or two??

Does the price of the TiVo Mini include the lifetime service if purchased in store?

On TiVo's website, a TiVo Mini can be purchased for $149. Lifetime service plan is included in this price. If purchased from BestBuy store front, does the $149 price include the lifetime service?
YES! (That's what TiVo told me when I activated my 'mini' from BestBuy last month. - I even caught the sale -$139.99! )

Monthly fees?

Are there any monthly fees involved after purchasing a TiVo? Also can you use it in replacement of a Comcast DVR?
Yes to both, except TiVo does offer a lifetime (of the machine) fee for use as an alternative to monthly or yearly. I got my TiVo, got the cable-card from Comcast, set it up, then returned my Comcast/Xfinity-X1 DVR to their office - last month. Still waiting for the new billing to see how much I save every month, even with the annual fee for TiVo.

Can I watch any other TV program while recording 4 separate programs?

Also, do I need a special card if I've gotten rid of my Comcast Cable box?
On the 4-tuner Roamio, when recording 4 separate programs, I have found I can only watch one of those or something previously recorded and still saved. You cannot tune in a 5th channel.

You need a cable card from Comcast to go into the TiVo unit, to make it 'see' the comcast signals on your cable. Or, hook up to an antenna to receive and record over-the-air programs, if you are within range of desired channels. The antenna, of course, does not receive cable-only channels.

can you hook it up to SAT????

I would like to record programs that i miss due to being sick?
TiVo's instructions say that it is NOT for satellite! The only way I, having had unit less than 1 month, can guess to record satellite programs may depend on the TiVo unit, and your satellite programming capabilities. Set the satellite device output to channel 3 (or 40, and input this to the TiVo unit. Schedule the TiVo unit to record that channel at the time selected - by telling it to record whatever program is on your channel 3 (or 4) at the chosen time. Not an easy method, hope it works.
