I had the Samsung Gearft before purchasing my Garmin Vioactive watch. Now I rarely use the gearfit. It is bigger but the battery lasts longer and I can swim in my gym pool. I got the set with the heart rate belt but haven't used it yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: It has the extra SD storage
What's not so great: haven't found one yet.
I upgraded to the note fron The Tab 7 so I could write my emails, Docs to Go, and quickly write my emails. The capture capability and the fact that I can slightly detach the Note 8 pen and use the pen from my Note 2 phone is a great convenience.

I need a samsung device just to set it at the beginning, after that you normally use without a samsung device ??
No, it seems that a Bluetooth connection is necessary and the phone within connection distance.

Will it show always show time or do you have to push a button to see it?
You can set the Gear Fit to "wake up" and what appearance to show with the wake up thru the Gear fit manager app. on your phone.

How would you use gear fit to track aerobic exercise ?
skim face of device to "exercise" icon and touch-then choose running, walking, cycling or hiking, then choose start.

Continuous Heart Rate Tracking
Is there an app or a setting I can modify to get the watch to act more like a traditional heart rate monitor. I was excited to use this to track exercise, but the default settings don't do a good job.
No, you must touch the face to geat the count but it is accurate and easy to do,
