I bought it because I would like to connect old unused monitor to laptop. It worked perfect, and it was cheap. It fit HDMI slot on my laptop. Sometimes it did not fit with it.

HDMI out to DVI in..?
I want to hook up my xbox one to a Acer monitor that only has DVI and VGA inputs. Is it possible to do that with this cable if I'm hooking up the HDMI end to my xbox one console and the DVI end to my monitor. Will it work?
I think it works. I used this connect my laptop HDMI output to my old monitor DVI input. Therefore, I think your case will work, too.
