What's great about it: Affordable, reliable, easy to set up, robust app selection
What's not so great: Nothing
The Chromecast showed great potential when it was first released last year. Now that Google's opened up the software development kit to all app developers, that potential has become realized! For $35, you get easy, intuitive access to a wide host of major streaming music and video services (Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Spotify, Google Play Movies & Music, etc.), 3rd party media apps, and even the ability to CAST YOUR PHONE AND COMPUTER SCREENS onto a full-size HDTV!
Did I mention it's only $35?!!

What's great about it: Typically great value in capacity versus price
What's not so great: Slide-to-extend less than ideal
If you can get this when Best Buy has its incredible sales on flash media, then this is a great value with regards to capacity versus price (got this for under $20)!
The Cruzer series, however, leaves a lot to be desired in terms of design. Rather than using a removable cap, the Cruzer "protects" the flash drive from damage by sliding in and out of the housing. Two problems with the execution though: 1) dust, liquid, etc can still enter the drive because the opening is left completely open and 2) the slider doesn't lock into place properly. This means you're either left with awkwardly haven't to keep your thumb pressing on the slider when connecting to a USB port or you push the slider too far forward and it gets stuck.

Can you use your laptop while streaming netflix to your tv?
Can you watch movies on your tv and do homework or browse the internet from your laptop without it appearing on the tv?
Yes, the Chromecast extension for Chrome allows you to select a specific tab to be cast on the screen, leaving you free to do other things on the computer. Honestly though, I haven't attempted it since the extension first became active as a Beta option, so it was a bit laggy and buggy at that time.
Of course, you can cast movies to the TV using smartphones and tablets as well, so that's an guaranteed easier option.
