Does this work like a usb flash drive?

I'm looking for something that works like a flash drive...plug it in and copy from the hard drive or an SD card and paste it onto the external drive...is the the drive for me or is there something else that I should get? I don't want to have to install any software to read and use the drive. Thanks.
There are two options. You can either use it like a flashdrive, or download the software and set up daily or weekly back-ups.
