How does the remote work with the stick behind the TV?

I'm concerned the remote won't work with the streaming stick plugged in behind the TV.
Is this a standard IR (infrared) remote that needs line of sight to work? (too much to ask for a Bluetooth remote)
Works fine. Our stick is completely hidden by TV and have had no problems with remote function.
