Purchased Moto 360 from BB in The Woodlands Mall. Store manager was very helpful! Watch is the best looking of all smartwatches and more advanced than my previous Sony smartwatch. And since the recent update to 5.1.1 (adds wifi connectivity and other features) I am even happier.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this to replace an old HP TouchPad since rooted and running KitKat. The TouchPad is thick and heavy, so its hard to travel with. The N7 is the perfect replacement... fast, light, and small enough to use with one hand. Prefer it to iPAD Mini and just about any other tablet. Priced well, and should become even more affordable when the N8arrives... but to be honest, I think I would prefer the ASUS N7 over the HTC buildt N8. BYMMV. Great product... and great buying experience from the Best Buy Mobile store in The Woodlands Mall.

What's great about it: Build, looks, size, notifications for many apps
What's not so great: Limited customization, a few quirks regarding compatibity
The Sony SmartWatch 2 handles text messages, twitter, Facebook, and with some work email notifications. It is well built (metal bracelet and body). It functions well. But there are a few compatibility quirks (the stock email extension only works with Sony phones, some issues working with Android 4.3). Compared with Pebble there is a limited dev community, and compared to Samsung Gear there is very limited customization possible (very few watch faces for example). But it does split the ground between the plastic and non-touchscreen Pebble and the large and expensive Gear. So I am happy with my purchase and can recommend the SW2 with the caveats mentioned. If I was a teacher, I'd give it a B or B+. A big improvement from Sony's first smartwatch... and hopefully Sony continues to enhance it.

about price
Moto 360 leather band's price was $149.99. Did the price rise?
I purchased mine for $149. on sale. I suspect pricing changes often though... and as the next generation Moto 360 gets closer to release I would expect the pricing to drop even lower.

Do I need a data plan for the watch
No. It just received wifi-support that now frees you from needing to always being linked to your smartphone. But it does not have 4G or other data connectivity built in, so no data plan is needed for the watch (just for the smartphone).

Will this watch work with the Samsung S3 phone?
Yes, I am using it with a Samsung Galaxy 3. I have run with with a Android 4.1.2 and with two different 4.3 ROMs. Sony tries to encourage you to use a Sony phone (by making the stock email extension work only with Sony phones), but there are multiple ways around that (pushing email to Gmail or K9 email clients (there are extensions for both Gmail and K9), and even some notification extensions can see and notify emails. Otherwise, all the usual apps you may use and get notifications from on your GS3 can be seen and read on the Sony SW2.

does the phone have to be in your pocket
The phone does not have to be in your pocket (or purse), and the distance you can stray from the phone seems to vary. I have a GS3 with a custom ROM, and the previous ROM required me to be within 30-35 feet of the phone before disconnecting. With a newer custom ROM I just installed, it seems to have doubled the distance (at least to 40-50 feet). So your phone's bluetooth must be a factor.
One you go past the distance, your watch buzzes twice to let you know. The watch still functions as a watch, and automatically reconnects again when you are back in distance (and buzzes you twice again).
I believe there is even an extension that helps you find your phone (haven't used it).
