Who prints "snapshots" anymore? Well, every once in a while, you need to send a picture (maybe to an older friend or family member) or print something for your desk at work and only a hard copy will do. I used to have an old Kodak printer that used film-like cartridges, so I wasn't sure how an ink-jet printer would work for photos, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, between the amount of ink that you likely use and cost of the paper (not that it is exorbitant) you probably won't want to print many, but if you have the occasional need, this is a very satisfactory and convenient way to generate a picture.

I selected this printer to use in conjunction with my 88-year-old father's all-in-one desktop that we got him about 8 months ago. His old printer was ancient, slow, and ink was expensive so we decided once his ink ran out we'd get a new printer. This was on sale and only around $60 and is more than he needs. Generally speaking he doesn't have need for a scanner (although this has one) and he has a separate fax (a feature this is missing) so this was easy for him to learn how to use. Although it IS wireless capable, we set this up with an existing USB cable that we had on hand. I figured having a cable would minimize potential for any computer/printer communications errors. Set-up was very easy and you get a good-quality document.
My one annoyance (and since I have a new Epson printer as well, would say this seems to be something inherent with the product line) is that printing always defaults back to color. Even though I constantly print using the black/grayscale option, it does not seem possible to set that as a default (although I may be missing something.)
It is a little larger than we were hoping for and is too wide to fit on a pull-out shelf in his desk, so we had to make room for it on the desktop surface.
All in all, this was a good choice for what he needs. No complaints and a good value.

Does it do 2 sided printing?
Sort of, but it is a fairly manual process. You can specify you want 2-sided printing (on the print properties page) and it will pause after it prints the odd numbered page(s) then give you a pop-up message telling you to turn the pages over and hit resume. So it tries to simplify it, but you will have to turn it over manually to print the back sides.
