Two computers, one connected to a cable modem with Internet service. How do I connect to obtain Internet service without networking?

I have two desktop PC's, One of which is not connected to my cable service.
I have additional incoming wired cable to connect the second computer.

How do I connect to the internet without Networking the two PC's?

Do I need an additional cable modem or just a router or
do I need a combination cable modem with an N router to connect to the internet?
you either need a router or a switch. for ethernet connections, a switch is very cost effective if the PCs are located close to it or the dwelling is wired for networking. cost is about $25. If you want more flexibility, a wireless router will provide connectivity for more devices and some wired connections for other devices.

connect your current cable modem to the wireless router or switch, and you will have plenty of connectivity options.
