I am returning this LG LCS1114SB microwave for two reasons:
1) Sounds like a "freight train a coming". Really loud and sounds like it's going to blow up.
2) Moisture build up in the glass prevents you from seeing what you're cooking.
This was intended to replace a 27 year old Panasonic that I am only replacing to save space and to get more wattage. This LG LCS1114SB is a piece of junk and will not be replacing my old microwave.
Unbelievably shoddy construction and quality control.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Great sound, easy to set up, internet radio, airplay, iOS pairing
What's not so great: Not Macintosh network friendly
A truly great receiver...
I was fortunate to buy this when it was on sale and I want to say I really love it.
The Graphical User Interface makes for an easy setup. You can see a visual representation of the speakers you have connected on the TV screen and tweak them to your liking. An automatic calibration microphone is provided to optimize the listening settings. I used this initially and then went back and adjusted some of the settings to my liking. Overall I have to say that the sound is incredible.
This is an internet ready network receiver with a wireless antenna. Connecting to my Wi-Fi network was easy and the connection is strong. First time through I had a little trouble inputting my network key with the remote but once I understood that you can change the keypad from numbers to upper case or to lower case letters I breezed right through it.
The streaming internet radio services, Pandora, Slacker, vTuner are truly awesome. I like that I am able to control these stations with my iPad or iPhone. In addition the FM tuner works really well and picks up all the stations in my area.
Not only does this receiver have component video inputs (rare these days) it also converts component to HDMI and upscales to 1080p. This allows me to connect my legacy DVD recorder and my legacy DVD carousel via component. A nice feature is that the receiver does not have to be turned on to watch HDMI peripherals through the TV. Since there are eight (8) HDMI ports I believe I have all the connectivity I need.
The USB port supports my iPods, one of which is a second generation Nano. You can have full control over the device with the remote or allow the Sony to play your songs automatically. In addition audio AirPlay provides even more functionality and listening options.
Some people have complained that you have to use the TV for tuning the receiver and other functions. At first I found this annoying but now I really like it. Once I get it doing what I want I usually turn off the TV screen (some TV's have this functionality and mine does).
One footnote: the BestBuy description lists the warranty period as one year but it's actually two years parts and labor.
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Easy to use controls, Good multi-zone capability, a lot to like
About me... practical, Audiophile, Tech savvy, Perfectionist
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Price, USB and RCA connections, good quality
What's not so great: No way to lock down stylus arm
I usually have this plugged to my receiver (and no you don't need a pre-amp) so I can listen to my old vinyl through my sound system. It sounds great.
I can also hook it to my MacBook Pro, my Macintosh or my Windows computer and convert vinyl to MP3. I have even used a Linux computer for this purpose. In addition I can connect it to my iPad and record using GarageBand. It's very versatile because it's a USB device.
I use Audacity for converting the stream to digital but I have also used GarageBand, QuickTime, Cubase, Logic, Ableton, ProTools, etc. Basically, you can use any program capable of capturing an audio stream. Your system will recognize the device as a sound card. Then you set the preferences in your audio program to use that device for audio input. You can record the audio as one continuous stream, or one song at a time. If you record one continuous stream you can break it up into songs later.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Zone2 amp not detecting signal

I have an STR-DN1040 and have a Zone2 Amp that is not sensing any signal in the inputs.

I set the 2nd Zone for FM radio and no signal. anybody else have this problem?
Have you tried going to the "inputs" screen from settings? From there you can control the type of connection, the pass throughs and the outputs.

Will this receiver work with a cassette deck?

Yes, simply connect the deck to a pair of RCA inputs. Then go to settings and open "inputs" and you will be presented with a table of all possible connections. From there you can control how the connection and even rename it.

Are Speakers built into this turntable?
This unit does not have speakers or an amplifier. It does have a pre-amp built in but you will need to plug it into an amplifier of some sort or any device with RCA inputs.

What kind of speakers do I need for my sony turntable

The turntable has jacks to plug into a speaker but I can't find any speakers that I can plug them into.
You will need a stereo amplifier with RCA inputs. In the absence of that you could plug it into your TV using the RCA inputs.

is the conversion option compatible with mac as well as pc?

Absolutely! You Mac will see the turntable as a sound card or microphone. It will be listed as "USB Audio Codec".
Then you can use any audio program to record the stream.

A good free program to use is Audacity. By default Audacity records .wav files but these can easily be converted to MP3 by installing the free Lame encoder. Directions to install Lame accompany the download of Audacity.

You can also use GarageBand. Simply select the turntable (USB Audio codec) as an instrument. Be sure to select the system (or other device) as an output or you won't be able to hear what you are recording.

I have also used GarageBand on my iPad to record songs from vinyl.
